Fluidized bed calciner provides best conditions for calcination of fine powders. It has unparalled advantages over other calcination system like rotary kiln, vertical shaft kiln,etc.. when it come to deal with powders.

Fluidized bed is created when gas flows upward through a layer of powdery material. The weight of the powder particles is compensated through the upward flow of the hot air. The powder thus caused to be suspended then behaves similarly to a liquid. The large advantage of this homogeneous mix of powdery products with preheated air is that a very uniform matter and heat transfer occurs; this also ensures extremely uniform temperature distribution.

Fluidized Bed is closed system mainly consisting of fluidized chamber, slotted bottom plate, hot air chamber and supporting base. Fluidized chamber and lining materials inside may vary depends on working temperature and materials to be calcined.

Powdery material performs in a fluidized manner after entering and meeting the high speed hot air in the fluidized bed chamber. After full contact &reaction of solids/air(completion of calcination), powder is discharged from the outlet.

The fluidized bed process creates a perfect condition for gas-solids reactions. It is widely used in the area of surface modification of various powders, and for different chemical reaction with gases (air, N2, H2, NH3, CO2, O2, H2O(g), etc.) in the temperature up to 1,000 °C.

Many metallic oxides, catalysts, hydroxides, silicates, salts, sulfates, carbon blacks, pigments and graphites are roasted, calcined, reduced, oxidized, activated, passivated, chlorinated, dried, tempered, etc. using fluidized bed calcination systems.
